In TCM, “Five Epilepsies” (五癇) refers to seizures classified by traditional animal-like sounds. The pathology involves **Phlegm-Fire disturbing the Heart** and wind stirring in the Brain. The strategy combines local thoracic opening with distal channel regulation.

**Houxi (SI3):** **The Master Point of the Du Mai** (通督脈之穴). Since the Du Mai enters the brain, SI3 is essential for pacifying internal wind and regulating the “Sea of Marrow” during a seizure.
-
**Jiuwei (CV15):** A classic point for all epilepsies. Located at the solar plexus, it effectively descends “rebellious fire” and clears the phlegm that obstructs the “clear orifices” of the Heart.
-
**Shenmen (HT7):** The Yuan-Source point of the Heart. It anchors the Shen (spirit), preventing the emotional instability and chaotic brain activity associated with epileptic discharges.
This three-point combination (SI3, CV15, HT7) provides a holistic balance: SI3 manages the “Upper” (Brain/Du Mai), CV15 manages the “Middle” (Phlegm/Ren Mai), and HT7 governs the “Interior” (Heart-Spirit). It remains a foundational protocol for managing seizure disorders in TCM.
