Ganglion cyst is a benign tumor that commonly occurs near the wrist. They are often discovered accidentally, sometimes gradually growing in size and accompanied by pain or soreness. Ganglion cysts that grow in the wrist joints are most likely to cause wrist soreness, especially when moving the joints. 腱鞘囊腫是一種良性腫瘤，好發於手腕附近。常常是無意間發現，有時會逐漸增大並伴隨有疼痛或酸痛的感覺。長在手腕關節內的腱鞘囊腫最易造成手腕的酸痛，特別在活動關節時會有不舒服的感覺。

Except for some occasional tenderness, most people will have no symptoms. This tendon sheath tumor is related to excessive movement of the wrist. But the detailed reasons are still not clear. A ganglion cyst is basically an inflammation of the tendon synovium or tendon sheath, so it can occur anywhere in the body, but is most common in the hands.
除了偶爾會有一些壓痛外，大部分的人不會有症狀，此腱鞘腫瘤和手腕的過度活動有些關係。但詳細原因仍不是很清楚。腱鞘囊腫基本上是一種肌腱滑膜或腱鞘的發炎，因此可發生於全身各地方，而以手部最為常見。

Ganglion cyst is a benign tumor that generally does not cause any complications except discomfort. Therefore, if there is no discomfort or limited mobility, active treatment is not necessary, just observation.
腱鞘囊腫是一種良性腫瘤，除了不舒服外，一般不會有任何併發症，因此如果沒有不舒服或活動受限，可以不必積極治療，只要觀察即可。

However, if the pain is too great and affects the function of the hand, further treatment can be considered; clinically, a needle can be used to extract its contents, and the extract is usually a gel-like liquid; it can also be pinched, but these methods can only make the tumor disappear temporarily for a period of time, and the chance of recurrence is quite high.
但如果疼痛或太大進而影響到手部的功能時，可考慮進一步治療；臨床上可用針頭將其內容物抽出，抽出物通常是一種類似凝膠的液體；也可將其捏破，但這些方式都只能使腫瘤暫時消失一段時間，再次復發的機率相當高。

Radical surgery involves removing the entire cyst and synovium, but incomplete resection may still cause the tumor to reoccur.
根治手術是將整個囊腫連同滑膜切除，但不完全的切除，仍有可能使腫瘤再發。

In Chinese medicine, treatment of this condition is directed toward relaxing the muscles and facilitating circulation through the channels.
在中醫中，治療這種疾病的目的是放鬆肌肉和促進經絡循環。

Needling

Points: Locality of the cyst
Method: Use a thick needle to lance the cyst at its highest point, then manipulate the needle in and out so as to release some fluid.

Thereafter, moxibustion may be used. If, after a week, the cyst has grown back to its original size, it may be lanced again.

Remarks

• After needling, the cyst should be dressed and bandaged for 3-5 days.
