acupuncture sections(刺節, cì jié, ㄘ ˋ ㄐㄧㄝˊ) refers to the five sections of acupuncture in the theory of acupuncture, namely, Shaking Off the Dust(振埃, Zhèn āi, ㄓㄣˋ ㄞ), enlightening(發蒙, Fā méng, ㄈㄚ ㄇㄥˊ), Declawing(去爪, Qù zhǎo, ㄑㄩˋ ㄓㄨㄚˇ), Taking off the Clothes(徹衣, chè yī, ㄔㄜˋ ㄧ), and Resolving the Problems(解惑, jiě huò, ㄐㄧㄝˇ ㄏㄨㄛˋ) ;
刺節,指刺法理論中的針刺五節,即振埃、發蒙、去爪、徹衣、解惑;
真(Zhen) refers to True QI, i.e. true energy;

邪,指邪氣,也就是四時不正之氣。

Qi Bo said: the Shaking Off the Dust(振埃, Zhèn āi, ㄓㄣˋ ㄞ) acupuncture is used to treat Yang Qi inversion, which accumulates in the chest: the chest tight and swollen, the shoulders shrug when breathing, the air in the chest inversing to rise, asthma wheezing with noises, restlessness in sitting and lying, aversion to dust and smoke, often being choked and unable to breathe. The so-called the Shaking Off the Dust(振埃, Zhèn āi, ㄓㄣˋ ㄞ) refers to the rapid effect of acupuncture, which is faster than shaking off dust.岐伯說:振埃這種針法,是治療陽氣大逆,積滿胸中,胸部悶脹,呼吸時兩肩聳動,胸中之氣逆上,氣喘吁吁有聲,坐臥不安,厭惡灰塵煙氣,常噎得喘不上氣來。所謂振埃,是比喻針刺的療效迅速,比振落塵埃還要快。
黃帝曰:善。取之何如?
Huang Di said: Well said. How to select acupoints for acupuncture treatment?黃帝說:講得好。怎樣取穴刺治呢?
歧伯曰:取之天容。
Qi Bo said: Take the Tianrong point (天容穴 SI17, tiān róng xuè, ㄊㄧㄢ ㄖㄨㄥˊ ㄒㄩㄝˋ).岐伯說:當取天容穴。
黃帝曰:其咳上氣窮拙胸痛者,取之奈何?
Huang Di asked: If the Qi is inversing to rise and coughing, the Qi action cannot expand, and there is chest pain, what acupoint should be used?黃帝問:如果氣上逆咳嗽,氣機不得伸展,胸痛,應取治什麼穴位?
歧伯曰:取之廉泉。
Qi Bo said: Lianquan point (廉泉穴 RN23, lián quán xuè, ㄌㄧㄢˊ ㄑㄩㄢˊㄒㄩㄝˋ) should be taken. 岐伯說:應取廉泉穴。
黃帝曰:取之有數乎?
Huangdi asked: Is there any certain rule for using needles when using these two acupuncture points? 黃帝問:取用這兩個穴位刺治,用針有一定法則嗎?
歧伯曰:取天容者,無過一里,取廉泉者,血變而止。
Qi Bo said: When acupuncture the Tianrong point (天容穴 SI17, tiān róng xuè, ㄊㄧㄢ ㄖㄨㄥˊ ㄒㄩㄝˋ) do not insert the needle more than one inch. Acupuncture Lianquan point (廉泉穴 RN23, lián quán xuè, ㄌㄧㄢˊ ㄑㄩㄢˊㄒㄩㄝˋ), stop the acupuncture when the blood color of the patient’s face changes. 岐伯說:針刺天容穴,進針不要超過一寸。針刺廉泉穴,見患者面部血色改變就止針。
帝曰:善哉。

黃帝曰:刺衛言發蒙,餘不得其意。夫發蒙者,耳無所聞,目無所見,夫子乃言刺府俞,去府病,何輸使然,願聞其故。
Huang Di said: I don’t understand what acupuncture sections(刺節, cì jié, ㄘ ˋ ㄐㄧㄝˊ) means by enlightening(發蒙, Fā méng, ㄈㄚ ㄇㄥˊ). Enlightening(發蒙, Fā méng, ㄈㄚ ㄇㄥˊ) is supposed to treat diseases that cannot be heard by the ears and cannot be seen by the eyes, but you say that acupuncture at the six fu organs (六腑, liù fǔ, ㄌㄧㄡˋ ㄈㄨˇ) is used to remove diseases of the six fu organs. Which acupoint should be treated to have such a curative effect? I want to hear why. 黃帝說:刺節所說的發蒙,我不明白它的意思。發蒙應是治療耳無所聞、目無所見的病,你卻說是針刺六腑腧穴以去除六腑的疾病,取治哪個腧穴會有如此療效呢?我想聽聽其中緣故。
歧伯曰:妙乎哉問也。此刺之大約,鍼之極也,神明之類也,口說書卷,猶不能及也,請言發蒙耳,尚疾於發蒙也。
Qi Bo said: What a wonderful question! This is the main point of acupuncture. The ultimate magical effect of acupuncture is to communicate with the gods. Even if you talk about it with your mouth or write it down in a book, you still can’t express it. Let me explain: The so-called “Enlightening(發蒙, Fā méng, ㄈㄚ ㄇㄥˊ)” is a metaphor that its effect is faster than enlightening the blind and deaf.岐伯說:問得妙哇!這是刺法的大要點,針刺妙用的極致,是通乎神明之類的事,口中講說,記之於書卷,也還是不能表達出來。讓我來解釋一下:所謂發蒙,是比喻它的療效比啟發蒙聵(又瞎又聋)還要快。
黃帝曰:善。願卒聞之。
Huang Di said: Well said. Please tell me in detail. 黃帝說:講得好。請你詳細講給我聽。
歧伯曰:刺此者,必於日中,刺其聽宮,中其眸子,聲聞於耳,此其輸也。
Qi Bo said: To acupuncture the diseases that cannot be heard or seen, the Tinggong point(聽宮穴 SI19, tīng gōng xuè, ㄊㄧㄥ ㄍㄨㄥ ㄒㄩㄝˋ) must be acupunctured at noon so that the sense of the needle directly touches the pupil, and the sound must be heard in the ear. This Tinggong point(聽宮穴 SI19, tīng gōng xuè, ㄊㄧㄥ ㄍㄨㄥ ㄒㄩㄝˋ) is the main acupoint for treating this disease.岐伯說:針刺耳無所聞、目無所見的病一定要在中午的時候,刺聽宮穴,使針感直應瞳子,而且要使耳內聽到聲音。這聽宮穴就是治療本病的主要腧穴。
黃帝曰:善。何謂聲聞於耳?
Huang Di said: Well said. How to make sounds heard in the ears? 黃帝說:講得好。怎樣會使耳內聽到聲音呢?
歧伯曰:刺邪以手堅按其兩鼻竅,而疾偃其聲,必應於鍼也。
Qi Bo said: After the needle is inserted, ask the patient to press the two nostrils tightly with the hands and lie on the back immediately. In this way, there will be a sound in the ear in response to the needle.岐伯說:針刺入後,讓患者用手緊按兩個鼻孔,而且趕快仰臥,這樣,耳內一定會有聲音應針而響。

黃帝曰:善。此所謂弗見為之,而無目視,見而取之,神明相得者也。
Huang Di said: Well said. This is what is called without seeing what to do and not looking at it with eyes, but selecting acupoints to treat, and the acupuncture will cure the disease, as if there is help from the gods.黃帝說:講得好。這就是所謂沒有看見去做什麼,也沒用眼睛注視著它,而取穴施治,針到病除,如有神明相助。
黃帝曰:刺衛言去爪,夫子乃言刺關節肢絡,願卒聞之。
Huang Di said: “About the Declawing(去爪, Qù zhǎo, ㄑㄩˋ ㄓㄨㄚˇ) mentioned by the acupuncture section, you said it is acupuncture of the joints and limbs. Please tell me in detail.”黃帝說:刺節所說的去爪,你說就是針刺關節肢絡,請你詳細講給我聽。
歧伯曰:腰脊者,身之大關節也;肢脛者,人之管以趨翔也;莖垂者,身中之機,陰精之候,津液之道也。故飲食不節,喜怒不時,津液內溢,乃下留於睪,血道不通,日大不休,俛仰不便,趨翔不能。此病榮然有水,不上不下,鈹石所取,形不可匿,常不得蔽,故命曰去爪。
Qibo said: The waist and spine are the major joints of the human body; the thighs and calves are the organs used by people to walk; the penis is an important part of the human body, the guardian of Yin essence, and the channel for the output of body fluids. Therefore, if the diet is not controlled and the mood is unstable, the body fluid will overflow and flow into the testicles. Due to the blocked water channel, the scrotum will become increasingly swollen, making it difficult to pitch and step. This disease is caused by the accumulation of water in the scrotum and the inability to pass up and down. Silver needles and meteorites should be used to purge the accumulated water. The enlarged scrotum cannot be hidden, and it is difficult to cover it with underwear, so the acupuncture method to remove this disease is called declawing.
岐伯說:腰脊是人身的大關節;大腿小腿是人用以步趨行走的器官;陰莖是人身的緊要部件,是陰精的守候者,也是津液輸出的通道。所以,如果飲食沒有節制,喜怒無常,就會使津液內溢,下而流入睾丸之中,由於水道不通,陰囊日益脹大不止,以致俯仰不便,步趨困難。這種病是陰囊內水液積滿,不能上通下泄的結果,當用銀針、砭石瀉除積水。陰囊腫大之形不能藏匿,下衣也難以將它遮蓋,所以把去除這種病的針法叫做去爪。
***人之管以趨翔:是指人體的下肢為主持行走的器官,也是站立的支柱。
***血道(血道不通):《甲乙經》、《太素》均作”水道”。
***榮然有水:滎然,小水貌。滎然有水,是形容有水蓄積,像微淺的不能流行的小水一樣。
帝曰:善。

黃帝曰:刺衛言徹衣,夫子乃言盡刺諸陽之奇俞,未有常處也。願卒聞之。
Huangdi said: What you call “Cheyi” by Cijie is the acupuncture of the various collaterals of the six fu organs. There is no fixed location. Please tell me in detail.
黃帝說:刺節所說的徹衣,你說就是針刺六腑的別絡,是沒有固定部位的。請你詳細講給我聽。
歧伯曰:是陽氣有餘,而陰氣不足,陰氣不足則內熱,陽氣有餘則外熱,內熱相搏,熱於懷炭,外畏綿帛近,不可近身,又不可近席。腠理閉塞,則汗不出,舌焦唇槁,腊乾益燥,飲食不讓美惡。
Qi Bo said: The acupuncture method of Cheyi treats diseases where there is excess Yang Qi and insufficient Yin Qi. If there is insufficient yin energy, internal heat will occur; if there is excess yang energy, external heat will occur. When the two heats combine with each other, the body will be too hot, as if holding a burning coal, so that the body will be afraid of cotton and silk, and the clothes cannot be placed on the body, and the body cannot even get close to the bed. In addition, the skin and muscle texture are closed but not opened, sweat cannot come out, and the burnt tongue, withered lips, dry throat, and difficulty in distinguishing the taste of food from bad.
岐伯說:徹衣這種刺法,治療的是陽氣有餘而陰氣不足的病。陰氣不足,就會發生內熱;陽氣有餘,就會發生外熱。兩熱相互交合,則體熱過甚,象懷著火炭似的,以致外怕綿帛,衣著不可加于身,連臥席也不能挨近,而且腠理閉而不開,汗不得出,舌焦唇枯,嗓幹喉燥,飲食分辨不出味道的好壞。

黃帝說:講得好。怎樣取穴刺治呢?
歧伯曰:取之於其天府大杼三痕,又刺中膂,以去其熱,補足手太陰,以去其汗,熱去汗稀,疾於徹衣。
Qi Bo said: Take the Tianfu(天府 LU3, tiān fǔ, ㄊㄧㄢ ㄈㄨˇ) and the Dazhu(大杼 BL11, dà zhù ㄉㄚˋ ㄓㄨˋ), and acupuncture three times each, and then acupuncture the Zhong Lu(中膂 BL29, zhōng lǚ, ㄓㄨㄥ ㄌㄩˇ ) to remove the heat, replenish the Taiyin meridian of the foot and the Taiyin meridian of the hand, so that the sweat can go out, and wait until the heat is removed and sweat is dilute, the disease will be cured, and its heat-removing effect is faster than removing clothes.
岐伯說:取手太陰的天府穴、足太陽的大杼穴,各刺三次,再針刺足太陽中膂俞,以去除其熱,補足太陰經和手太陰經,使汗外出,等到熱去汗稀,病就痊癒了,其去熱的效應比撤除衣服還要快。
黃帝曰:善。
